Tran Ba Thoai, MD, PhD

About

Dr Tran Ba Thoai has more than 40 years of experience in clinical practice, teaching and medical research, mostly in Hue and Da Nang. He graduated from Hanoi Medical University, trained further in paediatrics and community health, and completed his Master’s and PhD in endocrinology at the University of Medicine, Hue University.

His career spans clinical biochemistry, primary health care, paediatric intensive care and nephrology–endocrinology. He spent ten years in the paediatric intensive care unit and thirteen years in the Nephrology–Endocrinology Department of Da Nang Hospital before becoming Head of the International Department at Hoan My Da Nang Hospital in 2011.

His research covers thyroid disease, diabetes and metabolic disorders, hyperinsulinaemic hypoglycaemia in infants and sex hormones. Alongside clinical work, he has long written books and articles that explain health to the public, contributing to newspapers, magazines and broadcasters since 1985. His website, phulenghia.com, now holds more than 1,100 articles on medicine and public health, the earliest dating from 2008.
